Visitors Information

VISITORS & NON-MEMBERS

The best way for a beginner or an inexperienced bowler to learn how to play the game in a competent manner is to attend the coaching sessions or to be directed to a coach.

However, we know there are occasions whereby a Member may wish to encourage a family member or friend to have a try without the person committing to attending the coaching sessions or taking out a Membership. In such circumstances, the Committee would expect the Member to seek advice from one of the Club’s coaches before such a casual session takes place.

In such circumstances, the Member should be mindful of General Bye-Laws 1 and 5 in connection with “wearing approved footwear” and delivering the bowl so as not to “risk marking or damaging the turf in any way” (please remember that the Club invests heavily and continuously to improve the quality of the playing surface and our green is the Club’s greatest asset).

Non-Members with bowling experience may play on the Green if appropriate bowling footwear is worn and they are aware of the Bye-Laws and Bowls Etiquette. They must be accompanied by a full member up to a maximum of five times and pay the appropriate visitors green fees. Visitors cannot play in Hat Mornings or Hat Evenings.

Visitors Green Fees

Visitors must be accompanied by a Full Member and must wear flat soled bowling footwear (there are spare shoes in the large shed for visitors to borrow).

Our green fees for visitors are £4 per session (max. 2 hours) up to a maximum of 5 visits (unless under exceptional circumstances whereby a prior arrangement has been agreed with the committee).

Please put cash in an envelope, marked with the visitor(s) name(s), member's name and date of visit and place in the dropdown box in the clubhouse or in the club's external mailbox at the gate.  Alternatively bank transfer can be made (please email Treasurer in this instance).

Use of Green by Social Members

Social Members are permitted to play free of charge up to a maximum of 5 times and they must be accompanied on the Green by a Full Member.  They must abide by the Rules "Use of the Green by Non Members & Social Members".  Social Members cannot play in any competition or Hat.
After the 5 sessions, Social Members can join as a Full Member or cease playing.  They cannot continue to play and pay as a Visitor.
