COMPETITION ETIQUETTE
For those new and newish to bowls and/or to our Club, there is certain Club etiquette that we ask our entrants to internal Club competitions to follow.
Finals Week
We try to hold a Finals Week at the end of the season to allow the club to come together to celebrate the achievement of our members reaching a club final. We ask that, where possible, the finals of the knockout competitions are played during Finals Week, ideally with the Championship and Presidents Cup finals being held on the Saturday and Sunday as these competitions require the green to themselves and will always have priority.
Finalists
We understand that there may be circumstances where people may not be able to play their final during Finals Week and in such cases, where possible, we ask that it is played on an evening or weekend afternoon and that Finalists advise the Secretary and Match Secretary of the proposed date/time asap in order to ensure that rinks are available and the event is publicised.
Finalists of the Championship & Presidents Cup only
Players have the Green to themselves, can choose settings, direction of play and rink. If they cannot agree then it’s a coin toss.
Finalists of all other competitions
Players can choose any rink in the predetermined settings and direction of play. If they cannot agree then it’s a coin toss.
If there are other bowlers on the Green, not playing in another Final, they can be asked to move to another rink.
Semi Finalists
Players are permitted to choose any available rink in the predetermined settings and direction of play. If they cannot agree then it’s a coin toss.
Marker
It is customary to ask the President to mark the Final of the Championship and Presidents Cup (if he/she is unavailable then they can nominate a Deputy or ask the Finalists if they have a preference).
Club Tops
We ask that all Finalists and their Markers wear club tops.
All Members
We ask that members come down to spectate and support your fellow bowlers where possible. If you are booked for a practice, roll-up or bounce game at the same time as a Final, you may be asked to move rink and we ask that you show respect for the competitors.
